Event History: This event in its previous format – AKA the Veterans Benefit Tattoo Contest – was the brainchild of Doc Goodwin, founder of MVP, and Ed Sheffer, founder of Diversified Ink. They wanted to create a social event that encouraged veterans to get out and share tattoo stories in a fun and comfortable atmosphere. The first tattoo contest was held in the basement of Seasons restaurant in 2017 and was such a success that the following year, and ever since, it has been held at Jeff’s Catering. Every year it has grown and, over time, added a Live Band, Silent Auction, Tattoo studios booths, Vendor Booths, etc. Sadly, Ed Sheffer passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2020, and therefore the event was renamed to pay tribute to one of its founders, as well as two things that a lot of veterans have in common: INK & IRON!
